POWER OF MY PEOPLE & BAILEY NELSON CANADA
COLLABORATION POP-UP
PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT - SEPTEMBER 2015
Australian Spectrology Experts - Bailey Nelson and Vancouverite Button-Up Darlings – Power Of My
People are joining forces October 8th – 15th in a collaborative pop-up event that celebrates design,
craftsmanship & creative talent in Vancouver.
Power Of My People, started by Jessica Matthew and Kyle Kozma, two young entrepreneurs from
Vancouver who set out to make the best button-up shirts available. Since opening their first pop-up shop
in May earlier this year, the couple have gone from sewing and designing everything in-house to
sourcing a local Vancouver manufacturer to help them with production for their Fall 15’ Collection.
“Having our shirts made by a professional manufacturer, with the proper equipment and talented people
has been an awesome experience, and I think the payoff is evident in the new collection” - Power Of My
People Owner, Jessica Matthew.
In addition to their passion for beautiful button-up shirts, Power Of My People showcases amazing
makers in Vancouver’s community. All of them can be seen at powerofmypeople.com. A large
photographic showcase of all of the makers will be featured on a wall inside of Bailey Nelson’s.
“We’re really excited by the collaboration because we’re both creating beautiful products that are
extensions of the people who wear them”. - Power Of My People Owner, Kyle Kozma.
Bailey Nelson, founded in Sydney Australia - 2012, began with the idea that people should have access
to quality eyewear in classic or fashionable styles without all the fuss (or cost) of regular optometrists.
The brand redefines the experience of purchasing prescription spectacles and sunglasses – bringing it
into the 21st century and making it more…fun!
“As we move into our second year living in Gastown (and in Canada!), Bailey Nelson is focused on
supporting local industry & projects and encouraging a network between like minded folks. Even though
we began as an Australian brand, we want to embrace and include our Canadian branch into the Bailey
Nelson story” ….
“We love what Power Of My People are about - classic and clean aesthetics are integral to both our
brands. We hope the pop up will be able to showcase the great synergy between our styles and
produce a unique perspective for our customers too” - Bailey Nelson Company Director, Michael
Andersen.
